Don Kissick

Donald C. "Don" Kissick (born May 4, 1970, Royal Oak, Michigan) is an American politician of the Libertarian Party. Kissick also is an activist with the Tea Party movement.
Early life
Kissick was born and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan, a northern suburb of Detroit in Oakland County. He attended Clarence M. Kimball High School (later renamed Royal Oak High School) and graduated in 1988.
Military Service
In December 1988 he enlisted with the United States Navy and began a six-year term of service starting January 23, 1989. Following technical training at Naval Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois, Kissick served aboard the as a Fire Controlman, achieving the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. During his tenure aboard the Roberts he took part in three overseas deployments: the Red Sea during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; the Persian Gulf for Operation Southern Watch; and around South America. He was honorably discharged in January 1995.
Tea Party Involvement
After following the Tea Party movement during its rise in 2009, Kissick attended his first Tea Party rally in September in Kenton, Ohio. In October he began regularly attending the meetings of local Tea Party organization the Allen County Ohio Patriots in downtown Lima. Kissick also is a supporter of the fledgling Buckeye Patriot League in Allen County.
Political Activity
In August 2009, he registered with the Libertarian Party of Ohio as well as the national Libertarian Party via their Websites and had his first meeting with an official from the state affiliate shortly thereafter. After expressing an interest in running for elected office, Kissick also began communicating with LPO leadership about taking a more active role within the party's organization. He was selected in January 2010 by the LPO's Executive Committee to be LPO's County Development Coordinator for Allen County as part of the party's Field Development Division.
