Disk Firewall

Disk Firewall is a monitoring mechanism, which allows only a predefined set of trusted applications to access the contents of a protected volume. It acts as a filter, preventing any non-trusted program from accessing the file system. Unlike conventional security mechanisms, the successful operation of Disk Firewall does not require regular updates.

The first implementation of this proactive security mechanism was made in Dekart Private Disk v2.06, in November 2005.

A similar program Drivesentry blocks access to your local drive using a similar method.
