Deprivatization (or Renationalization) is the process of 'taking back' or terminating the privatized ownership, management or control over goods, products, services and programs into the public sector by the people or the government in the name of public good. This process is critical when it comes to ensuring people have adequate access to public services that were privatized or taken over by for profit concerns over many decades and generations. Proponents of deprivatization argue that local control and government oversight over public resources is critical to justice and providing for the general good at the most beneficial and cost effective means possible. One example of privatization which has been particularly controversial is water privatization.
