In 2008, Del McCoury started DelFest, an annual bluegrass festival in Cumberland, Maryland, held at the Allegany County Fairgrounds 2008 3000 to 4000 people attended the first DelFest. Lineup Del McCoury Band, Vince Gill, Dierks Bentley, Keller Williams and The Keels, David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, Sam Bush, Abigail Washburn & The Sparrow Quartet featuring Bela Fleck, David Bromberg Band with Special Guest the Angel Band, Punch Brothers featuring Chris Thile, Railroad Earth, Emmitt-Nershi Band, Great American Taxi featuring Vince Herman, Jon Fishman (artist-at-large), Steep Canyon Rangers, Adrienne Young, The Lee Boys, Dre's Rude Awakening, Ronnie Reno and The Reno Tradition, Ronnie Bowman (artist-at-large), Dan Paisley & The Southern Grass, Mike Garris & Area 51, Davisson Brothers Band, Deep Fried Pickle Project 2009 On the second day of the festival (May 23), a sudden hail storm struck during the Sam Bush set, stopping the music on the main stage and causing some severe damage to tents and shelters, and a few minor injuries. Music resumed at the multipurpose stage with Old Crow Medicine Show, and late at night on the main stage with Leftover Salmon.
