Declan Caddell

Declan Caddell (born 13 April 1988) is a footballer from Northern Ireland who currently plays for IFA Premiership side Crusaders as a midfielder.
Born in Belfast, Caddell began his career in Scotland with Edinburgh side Hearts. Released in 2007, he signed for home town club Crusaders that summer. After a slow start to his Crues career, he scored his first league goal in October 2009 against Portadown, a deft 20-yard lob over the goalkeeper.
While he has largely been in and out of the first team squad during his time, he came to prominence towards the end of the 2010-11 season. With the Crues chasing a league and cup double, and after having only previously scored twice for the club, he scored 7 goals in the final 9 games, including braces against Cliftonville in the Setanta Cup, and Coleraine in the league. He also scored against Portadown in a 3-1 league victory, and what turned out to be the decisive goal in the Irish Cup semi final, also against Portadown. This put the Crues into their second Irish Cup final in two years, in which he had put the Crues ahead in the 54th minute. They eventually lost to Linfield 2-1.
