Jamison Miles Lee Thrun (1999-2011) was a sixth grade student who was killed in a vehicle accident in Fairbanks, Alaska. The intersection at which the accident took place had previously been a site of concern. The incident resulted in an outpouring of support for the family, calls for reform and more vigorous policing of known trouble spots and a spree of other awareness raising activism. The investigation was led by the Alaska State Troopers with assistance from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, the University of Alaska Fairbanks Police and the Fairbanks Police Department. On September 2, 2011 a memorial walk attracted more than 200 attendees. Donations to the family were collected beforehand. His funeral was held on Monday September 5 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church and will be buried in the Birch Hill Cemetery. Sports games were dedicated in Thrun's honor after his death.
