Death and funeral of Dolphy

The King of Comedy of the Philippines, Rodolfo Vera Quizon popularly known as Dolphy, died on July 10, 2012 at the Makati Medical Center in Makati City, Philippines, after being on the Intensive Care Unit for over a month. His official cause of death was multiple organ failure. Dolphy was first diagnosed to have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in 2009, and was hospitalized from June 2012 until his death.
His funeral was held on July 11, 2012 in the Dolphy Theatre in Quezon City and on July 12, 2012-July 14, 2012 in Taguig Heritage Park in Taguig City. His body was buried at the Taguig Heritage Park in Taguig City, Philippines.
Health
In 2009, Dolphy was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. As a result, his public appearances were reduced, and was frequently admitted to the intensive care unit.
On June 16, 2012, he was admitted at the Makati Medical Center after complaining of shortness of breath. He was showing signs of recovery eight days later, but was hospitalized again in early July 2012 because of recurring pneumonia.
Philippine President Benigno Aquino III said he believes the late Comedy King deserves to be conferred the National Artist award, but stressed he cannot shortcut the process for legal reasons. Since there is a temporary restraining order on the granting of National Artist awards issued during the past administration, the Aquino administration gave Dolphy the Grand Collar of the Order of the Golden Heart in 2010
Death
By June 2012, Dolphy was reported to be in a very serious condition and confined to Makati Medical Center due to heavy weight loss, loss of appetite and chronic baldness. His son Ronnie Quizon announced to the public that Dolphy is in very critical condition, After that announcement many tributes were on television. Dolphy was in the Intensive Care Unit for 1 month until his death on July 10, 2012.His cause of death is multiple organ failure.

The official statement of Dolphy's death were announced on ABS-CBN during the commercial break of the drama Walang Hanggan as well as on TV5, Willie Revillame announced the death of Dolphy after an on-air phone conversation with Zsa Zsa Padilla on his show Wil Time Bigtime.
Funeral
His body was held on Taguig Heritage Park, and Dolphy Theater from July 11, 2012 to July 15, 2012.
Casket
The King of Comedy said that he bought his own coffin or casket before death on 1970's during an interview on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho hosted by the journalist Jessica Soho 2 years ago. The Loyola Funeral Homes confirmed that they kept this casket for 40 years and now is priced at 1.8 million pesos.
Tomb
His tomb was created by one of his fans on Taguig Heritage Memorial Park on July 13, 2012 before Dolphy's Burial. The Quizon Family said that it costs P3 Millon.
Burial
His burial was held on July 15, 2012 in Taguig Heritage Park after a mass.
National Day of Remembrance
On July 13, 2012, President Benigno Aquino III announced the National Day of Remembrance for the King of Comedy, on GMA Network it was formally announced during an interview to the two of Dolphy's Sons,Epi and Vandolph Quizon
