Day By The River, also known as DBR, is a jam band from Athens, Georgia that existed between 1989 and 1999. DBR was the first band ever to release a download-only mp3 CD. Day By the River was involved in a Tour Bus accident where Lee Laurence, their sound engineer, was killed. The band has not toured or released any recordings since, but has had some reunion shows in remembrance of Laurence.

Their catalog consists of two studio albums and a live mp3 cd. Their debut album, Shimmy, was recorded in 1993. Fly was their second album, released in 1996. Watermarks is their last CD with all live tracks recorded between 1995 and 1999.

Fly was their second album, released in 1996. It featured Jimmy Herring of (Aquarium Rescue Unit). On the track Puddin', Jimmy was in the band during its transition between guitarists Buck Pryor who left, and Jason Rabineau. Jason plays lead on all the other tracks. The album was produced by Doug Derryberry and John Alagia (Dave Mathews Band), and was mixed by John Altschiller (Phish).
