David W. Horvitz

David W. Horvitz is an American philanthropist and business person. He is a member of the board of The Kresge Foundation, and CEO of WLD Enterprises, a private investment company. Horvitz, along with the late Paul Newman and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf founded , a camp for children with life-threatening diseases and chronic illnesses.
David W. Horvitz is the son of late William Horvitz, who once owned the development company Hollywood Inc, in Hollywood, Florida, founded during the Great Depression by Samuel Horvitz (the grandfather of David Horvitz), who "amassed a fortune in Florida real estate." After William Horvitz sold Hollywood Inc. in 1988 for $300 million to real estate developer Michael Swerdlow, William founded DWLD Enterprises, Inc., an investment and brokerage company which he ran with his son.<ref name="Gregory"/> David Horvitz and his wife once owned a 10,000-square-foot luxury house in Fort Lauderdale. Later, they had a new 6,000-square-foot modern house, designed by New York architect Deborah Berke, built on their property near the New River.<ref name="Viladas"/>
