David Life

David Life together with Sharon Gannon created the Jivamukti Yoga method. This method focuses on reaching enlightenment - through teaching and practicing yoga. It is taught worldwide by Sharon and David's students who have opened their own studios.

He has presented annually since 1993 at various conferences held nationwide. Such conferences include those presented by the Omega Institute, Global Mala Project,Yoga Journal, Southwest and Midwest Yoga Conference, and Arizona Yoga Conference. High-profile students include Sting, Russell Simmons, and Donna Karan.

Life is also extremely involved in his community. He founded Life Café in 1980 in Greenwich Village, in New York City, making only vegetarian chili and one cup of coffee at a time. The café became a popular jazz, art, and poetry cafe and was featured in the Broadway musical, Rent. Animal Advocacy is also a huge part of Life's life. Together with Sharon Gannon and Janet Rienstra, he establised the Animal Mukti Free Spay and Neuter Clinic at the Humane Society of New York City in 1999. He's a longtime member and supporter of PETA and continues to help with several of their campaigns.
