David Koehn

David Koehn is an American poet, university teacher and technology entrepreneur. He is primarily known for founding the incubator known as the Batchery . The Batchery has run over 120 companies through its program, including companies like Joytops, Gryphon Online Safety, and GolfKicks.
Koehn is also a poet and his work is described by the infamous critic Judith Kitchen, in her review of his work in the Georgia Review, as "fascinated by scientific phenomena" and "illuminated—and complicated—by invention."
Koehn has run a Prosody & Revision workshop for Omnidawn Publishing since 2013 to present. The course has included a who's who of the poetry world as guests including Robert Pinsky, Jim Daniels, Donald Revell, Robert Hass, Rusty Morrison, Annie Finch, Dean Rader, Kazim Ali, Arthur Sze, Matthew Zapruder, William Logan, Norma Cole, Myung Mi Kim, Srikanth Reddy, Gillian Conoley and many others.

* Bachelor's Degree in Creative and Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University; 1987-1990. He studied abroad for one year in Heidelberg, Germany while he was at Carnegie Mellon.

Career
He taught in several universities and colleges.

* Japan - part of teacher exchange program that taught English - May 1996 - June 1996.

He taught at Blue Mountain Community College. Koehn also taught High School in Alaska, at Barrow and Bethel region. He was a member of the Breadloaf Teacher Network wherein he was awarded an Annenberg Fellowship at Middlebury College's Breadloaf School of English.
David worked for Oracle, where he led the team of the Learn Cloud as part of the company's HCM Cloud Suite and Cloud Architecture. Koehn also led the analytics efforts and social learning for Saba Cloud. Koehn is currently the SVP of Product Management of D2L and a member of the board for IMS , , the ed-tech standards body.
Koehn has invested in many startups
and founded the incubator, the Batchery .
