Darshan Singh Batra

Darshan Singh Batra (born on August 27, 1940) was a civil engineer and President of the Indian Engineers Federation. He was instrumental in the turnaround of the State Bridge Corporation as it's Managing Director along with the then Minister for Public Works Department, Beni Prasad Verma
When he took over the post of Managing Director of UP State Bridge Corpration, a state government enterprise, it was making losses and was on the verge of closure. Within one year, he transformed the company into efficient teams which would win business and make high quality bridges for the country and abroad.

During his tenure as Managing Director of Bridge Corporation, he identified areas of improvement and took strong decisions to improve the productivity and quality in the company. During his time, the Thane Creek Bridge in Mumbai was constructed. Bridge Corporation received an award from the American Concrete Association for the fine quality of work. There has been a well known book called 'concrete in the the service of mankind' which considers this bridge as a case study in bridge construction.
