Daniel Cole

Daniel Cole is a freelance translator, a conservative activist, and an op-ed columnist. His book reviews have appeared in The Wanderer, and he has worked as a consultant for Zaccheus Press and Roman Catholic Books. Cole has been described as "a genuine limited-government conservative." He is currently studying at Columbia Law School.
Op-Ed Columnist
Cole writes on a wide range of political, social, and religious topics. His columns have explored Padre Pio, Silvio Berlusconi, the Electoral College, the United Nations Human Rights Commission, and franking, among other things. Cole has been critical of the Obama Administration for supporting Manuel Zelaya and for continuing to reach out to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He has also expressed skepticism about the possibility of turning Iraq and Afghanistan into constitutional democracies.
Campaign Manager
In 2008, Cole formed an organization called "Citizens for Cost-Effective Government." The group initially focused on defeating County Question 1A, which asked voters to increase sales taxes by 1% to raise an additional $75 million per year. The question was defeated 59% to 41%.
In 2008, Cole was also the campaign manager for Keith King's state Senate campaign in Colorado's District 12. King won 56% to 44%.
In 2009, Cole's organization ran a campaign against City Issue 1A, which asked voters to extend an expiring mill levy through 2025, using the funds to "create, attract and retain primary jobs." The issue lost 62% to 38%.
Humor
On November 6, 2008, The Colorado Springs Independent published an article in which Colorado Springs City Councilmember Margaret Radford called Cole a "winged monkey," apparently in reference to the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In response, Cole published a letter to the editor speculating that Radford was really referring to Hanuman, the "Winged-Monkey God" of Hinduism, whose feats include "defeat a wicked ruler" and "outwitting a mean-spirited female sea-monster." Radford had supported County Question 1A.
