Daniel Cairns is a British singer, songwriter, photographer and music journalist. He is best known for his appearance on UK talent show Pop Idol. Career In 2003 Daniel appeared on the TV show Pop Idol. He auditioned with a rendition of "Insatiable" by Savage Garden singer Darren Hayes. His audition was of such a poor standard, that he was subsequently ridiculed by Pop Idol Judge Simon Cowell and the UK media for several weeks following the broadcast of the program. Following his elimination from Pop Idol, Daniel joined with songwriter and producer Steve Ludwin and wrote a scathing reply to Cowell's comments in the form of a song called "How High is my Waste Band?". The song featured members of the band Little Hell and a promotional video was recorded. In 2007, Daniel reinvented himself as Dan Devour and formed the Goth Rock/Industrial band Death Valley Scars. Their first album Suicide, Sex and Suffering was produced by Ays Kura and released in 2013. In November 2015 their follow up album The Suffocation of the World was released.
