Dangerous Rhythm

"Dangerous Rhythm" is the first single and release of the New Wave band , although this was also the second single of them as a band, composed by John Foxx, Chris Cross, Stevie Shears, Warren Cann and Billy Currie, after 1975, when they released the 7" with the group name of Tiger Lily. It was released on January 1977 by Island Records, one month before their first album . The track is backed by "My Sex", which was the first song the band experiment with synthetizers, being the band influenced by Kraftwerk. Both songs were included in an album of different styles, Ultravox!, which included genres as glam, reggae, soft rock and proto synthpop.

The A-Side song "Dangerous Rhythm" is heavily influenced by reggae and it is because the band's bassist Chris Cross saw some reggae concerts in his hometown Tottenham. It was written around 1974 or 1975, some years before reggae music became a fashion. It also has got a supossdely promo video, along with "The Wild, The Beautiful And The Damned" and "Wide Boys" songs, wich also appeared in the debut album. That three videos can be seen on Youtube, although some fans commented only were live performances.

The song "My Sex" influenced the name of a New Wave New Zealand band, Mi-Sex, formed in 1978.

Although unsuccefully in sales, the single had many good reviews at the time, as one by Sounds magazine.
