A cyclone dust collector is a device that is commonly used to purify air. This is done by vacuum and centrifugal action. When the flow of material is introduced at the top of the cyclone it is forced to swirl around. This causes any particulates, or heavier matter, to be drawn toward the outside of the cyclone barrel. Gravity causes the particulates to travel down the cone and discharge out the bottom of the cyclone. The purified air is drawn up by the vacuum through the center of the cyclone and discharged out of the top. The ability of a cyclone to separate and collect particles is dependent upon the particular cyclone design. The cyclone is a widely used type of particulate collection device..
