Critical Acclaim

"Critical Acclaim" is a song by American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold. The song was released as the lead single from their self-titled fourth studio album. It features co-lead vocals from the band's drummer, The Rev.
Overview
"Critical Acclaim" was the first song from the album to be released, and was also the first written. Before being officially released, snippets of it were released on the band's MySpace page. The band later posted the full song on August 20th, 2007. The song was officially released on iTunes on August 28, 2007.
"Critical Acclaim" features lyrics about politics and war. The song begins with an organ intro (which is played by singer M. Shadows during live shows). The chorus of the song is sung by the band's drummer, The Rev. It is one of the first songs by the band to feature him on lead vocals.
Live
"Critical Acclaim" is the fifth most played Avenged Sevenfold song live, being performed nearly 500 times. It was debuted live during a concert in Liverpool, England. The song was featured on the live album Live in the LBC, where it opened the concert.
Controversy
The political lyrics of "Critical Acclaim", and the republican views of the band in general, have sparked negative controversy for the group. The lyrics are calling out and mocking more liberal people who criticize armed forces, while also not contributing to the country.
Recently, singer M. Shadows has apologized for putting politics at the forefront of this song, and has promised to keep politics out of the band's music, stating that "my viewpoint has changed".
