"Critical Acclaim" is a song by American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold. The song was released as the lead single from their self-titled fourth studio album. It features co-lead vocals from the band's drummer, The Rev. Overview "Critical Acclaim" was the first song from the album to be released, and was also the first written. The song was featured on the live album Live in the LBC, where it opened the concert. Controversy The political lyrics of "Critical Acclaim", and the republican views of the band in general, have sparked negative controversy for the group. The lyrics are calling out and mocking more liberal people who criticize armed forces, while also not contributing to the country. Recently, singer M. Shadows has apologized for putting politics at the forefront of this song, and has promised to keep politics out of the band's music, stating that "my viewpoint has changed".
