Confederate States Air Force

The Confederate States Air Force is the fictional air force of the Confederate States of America, which appears in several alternate history novels, most notably in the Southern Victory series by Harry Turtledove. In the Southern Victory Anime Series Fighters *Hound Dog: the main Confederate fighter plane. It is apparently a single-seat fighter. While equal in almost every way to the U.S. Wright 27, it had slightly superior firepower, derived from the cannon in its nose. Level bombers *Razorback: a short-to-medium-range heavy level bomber used both for attacks on U.S. Great Lakes shipping and military bases and in area bombing of cities. *An unknown light bomber was used by the Confederates to attack the U.S. superbomb works in Hanford, WA; the planes were based in Texas, Chihuahua, and Sonora, could carry only small amounts of bombs, and had to be ditched on Vancouver Island, where the crews were rescued by Canadian guerrillas. Dive bombers *Mule (commonly known as the Asskicker): Vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire, although effective at destroying targets. In Anime *Alligator: A low-quality transport which was the only one produced due to the Confederate lack of knowledge of and unwillingness to prepare for the impending long war. See Also
