History CoffeeAM was originated in August 1993 and launched its online retail store in March 1999. Since the present owners purchased the business, in December 1998, coffeeAM.com has focused on expanding its product offerings, building brand name through advertising and promotional campaigns, pursuing online shopping initiatives, recruiting personnel, developing business-to-business services and exploring strategic electronic commerce opportunities. In December 1999, CoffeeAM.com launched a wholesale program enabling consumers to purchase coffee and tea in bulk at wholesale prices. TransFair USA (Fair-Trade) The "Fair Trade Certified" label is a third-party certification administered in the U.S. by TransFair USA, a member of Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International (FLO), and it means that coffee beans were purchased directly from growers or their cooperatives at a price higher than the commodity market rate. TransFair USA is the third-party certifier of Fair Trade products in the U.S. TransFair’s rigorous audit system. They verify industry compliance with fair trade criteria and track products from farm to finished product. They also allow U.S. companies to display the Fair-Trade Certified label on products. Rainforest Alliance They are mainly focused on how farms are managed rather than how beans are traded, covering all aspects of production including environmental protection, worker rights and welfare and the interests of local communities. They provide incentives to the farmers so that they meet the CoffeeAM’s standards and also encourage companies to support the farms making improvements toward sustainability.
