Coffee-Corner Phenomena

The Coffee Corner phenomenon is the belief or attitude of a small minority of individuals in the capital of Yemen , who form an elite group whose views on a matter are to be taken the most seriously or carry the most weight; although these views and/or actions are most likely to be destructive to the society as a whole. The phenomenon posits that a small minority, consisting of members of the economic elite and policy-making networks holding the most power and that this power they gain is independent of the state's democratic electoral process.
The Coffee Corner Phenomena recently emerged as an important issue in Yemeni society. In Yemen, 2% of the population control over 80% percent of the wealth and power even in a post 2011-2012 Yemeni revolution context.
Characteristics
Attributes identifying a coffee corner elite vary but personal achievement may not be essential. As a term it usually describes a person or group of people who are members of the uppermost class of society and wealth contributing to that class determination. They are equipped with cutting-edge communication devices and live in a state of local exile and identity crises.
The majority of Coffee Corner visitors belief in the philosophy of Cornerisim, which is a belief that particular coffee drinkers are superior to others and therefore entitles those people who identify themselves with it to dominate, control or rule those who do not.
