Codemotion

Codemotion is a European Tech Conference for developers. Codemotion was created by Ugo Landini, Mara Marzocchi and Chiara Russo in 2007, and holds annual conferences in Rome, Milan, Madrid, Berlin, and Tel Aviv. With over 4000 attendees in Codemotion Rome 2011, Codemotion became the biggest tech conference in Italy devoted to software developers.
History
Codemotion was founded in Rome in 2007 as JavaDay, hosted by the Engineering Department of the Università degli Studi di Roma Tre and supported by local Java User Groups. In 2011 JavaDay changed its name to Codemotion and became a horizontal conference open to any languages and technologies.
In 2012 Codemotion opened its first chapter in Madrid., followed by Berlin in 2013. and Tel Aviv in 2014.
In Italy Codemotion is held twice a year, in spring in Rome and in autumn in Milan
Starting from 2014, Codemotion is partner of Project Welcome a pan-European web entrepreneurship and startup ecosystem.
Areas of interest
Codemotion key areas of interest range from mobile to UX, devops, cloud, big data, security, methods, languages, web, IoT.
Moreover, Codemotion dedicates some areas to Gamedev showcase, Startups, Makers and to Codemotion Kids labs, for youngsters.
The format of the event is set in two days of technical workshop and two days of conference - about 100 talks, mostly delivered in English - surrounded by hands-on labs and Code contests
Codemotion fully supports women engagement and is committed to holding a Conference that reflects the diversity of its community and provides a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, physical appearance or gender.

TechAcademy
In 2014 Codemotion opened Codemotion Tech Academy, providing Tech courses for professionals (Codemotion Training) and young people (Codemotion Kids).
Codemotion Training
Codemotion Training tech school started in Rome in 2013, providing a wide range of training activities such as Tech Webinars, Tech Days and courses. Codemotion Training currently operates in Rome, Milan, and online.
Codemotion Kids
Codemotion Kids was launched in 2014 in Rome, offering courses for younger audiences. Codemotion Kids delivers courses of Coding (Scratch and Processing), Robotics, Lego Robotics Electronics and digital art for young people up to 17 years old.
In 2015, during Codemotion Rome event, Codemotion set its first "hackathon" for kids: all the young coders attending Codemotion Kids courses of Electronic, Coding and Robotics had the opportunity to work together and learn how to use microcontrollers, crafts, and programming to express themselves and their ideas to satisfy the hackathon's challenge: Space, the final frontier.
Due to the success of Codemotion Kids courses, Codemotion was asked to curate the Kids & Young area at MakerFaire Rome 2014 and 2015
