Clive Conway Productions

Clive Conway Productions is a British theatrical production company that produces a series of theatrical events under the title An Audience With..., based on the British television program of the same name. Guests have included leading politicians, writers, thinkers and actors. The Guardian has written, “...he has transformed the classic show business format of an intimate soirée with the stars into a curious and highly successful mix of politics, literature, entertainment and sheer notoriety.”
History
As a professional flautist with a wide network of friends and colleagues in the worlds of music and theatre, Clive Conway started producing anthology performances during the 1990s. They featured well-known actors like Derek Jacobi, Wendy Craig, Hannah Gordon and Robert Powel and leading writers including the late John Mortimer. The success of these shows, performed in regional theatres throughout Great Britain, led to the development of the An Audience With… idea. Starting with Tony Benn in 2002, it proved an immediate critical and box office success, filling theatres across the country, particularly in the provinces. The formula blazed a trail that has since been followed with big names including David Frost, Alastair Campbell, Jonathan Miller, Michael Portillo, John Sergeant to name but a few.
