Claire Sheppard

Claire Sheppard (born 6 November, 1982) is a British local campaigner and businesswoman, who established a community response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK, before official action by the Local Council. A movement of local initiatives on social media or through voluntary organisations became prevalent across the country in 2019-2020.
Background and community activism
Sheppard ran a market research company, which specialised in finding and filming people for research projects where people talk to brands, charities and organisations, to share their lived experiences. She has worked on projects around food poverty, HIV testing, modern slavery and investigating the feelings evoked from driving.
Nunhead Rocks
Sheppard organised a community group that assists the elderly and vulnerable with food efforts and odd jobs, called Nunhead Rocks.
Nunhead Knocks
As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, from the blueprint of the Facebook group of Nunhead Rocks, she founded Nunhead Knocks, a support group to assist those isolating and struggling (see Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic) making her one of the pioneers of community responses to COVID-19, something which attracted attention from the media, local and nation-wide organisations. was also established by Sheppard in Nunhead, and she has been elected Branch president three times. and social justice issues locally. She had been a candidate for Southwark local elections, standing as an independent candidate in Peckham Rye (2018) polling 16.3% of the vote, in the General election in 2019 in Camberwell and Peckham constituency for the Green Party, polling 6.2% of the vote, coming fourth, and stood most recently for Green Party in the London Assembly in 2021 (Lambeth and Southwark) coming second with 19.7% of the vote.
