Cinababi

Cinababi is a Malaysian term which originated on 13 May, 1969. This date is known as the "May 13 Racial Dishonest Assault Malaysia" M13RDAM. As we all know, Malaysia appears to be a "Multi Racial country". During the May 13 assault, racial issues between the Chinese and the Malays (known as babi) occurred. As a result, the Malaysian Malays fought an unjustified battle for racial preference. The Chinese on the other hand, held up a heroic defense. However, they were out numbered. .The Malays showed courage, they dwell-ed on the blood of those who chose to rebel on them. A mercy-full battle occurred Many lives were lost, many tears were shed-ed. Since then, the Malaysian Chinese were marginalised. In 2007, a Malaysian (currently in taiwan for further studies)
was remanded for stirring up racial issues by rapping a 5 minute song known as Negarakuku (My Country) Wee Meng Chee, a Malaysian Chinese was detained by the notorious Internal Security Act (ISA) law of Malaysia. This is truly an unjustified act of treason. It is impossible to ensure racial harmony when the voices of the public are being ignored;
even backfired. The rest of the world may look upon Malaysia as a "Multi Racial Country", a country where peace and harmony is found everywhere. Sadly, the proven fact is, with political and economical favouritism, it is not possible to establish a peaceful multi racial community.

CinaBabi generally means, Chinese Pig. "Cina" = Chinese, and "Babi" = Pig. This term was used by the Malaysian Chinese during the May 13 incident as a "symbol" of loyalty to the Chinese race. "CinaBabi" is associated with the Malaysian Chinese mainly because "Babi" (pigs) are strictly abhorred by the Muslim society. Therefore, it also acts as a word of criticism to the Malays. During the May 13 devastation, when someone addresses you as a "CinaBabi", it means that you’re a faithful Malaysian Chinese. It's often used as a motivational word to encourage them to strive for equal constitutional rights.

CinaBabi today
Living in the 21st century, in the era of mass globalisation. the term "CinaBabi" has gone through many modifications in both meaning and ways of using it. However, it is finalised that the term "CinaBabi" today resembles the extremist Chinese in Malaysia. As we all know, the Japan/Hong Kong entertainment and fashion industry is currently making a massive influence in the global market, especially on youths. No doubt in Malaysia that many of the Chinese teenagers, even adults choose to dress or live the lifestyles of famous Japan/Hong Kong models. These POSERS are often labeled as "Ah lians", "Lalas", "Ah bengs" ETC. (Take note: these words of criticisms are said by the Malaysian CHINESE, not MALAYS.) This is because; most English educated Chinese in Malaysia finds it annoying. They claim that the "POSERS" are mentally brainwashed or too "Chinesy", as they don’t want to be compared to the wild, uneducated native citizens of china. They are proud to live as a Malaysian Chinese with westernised education. In short, it projects to the Chinese families in Malaysia with 0-10% of English education. Sadly, the term "CinaBabi", once a symbol to all the Malaysian Chinese, Once a word that unites the Chinese, had became a harsh word used by the English educated Chinese in Malaysia to criticise their own race.

CinaBabi 2020
Visions are made, as natural beings tend to look into the future and strive for greater achievements in life. The same goes to the "Cinababies", no doubt they had tried to improve by changing their look in some sort of way to attract attention. As the "Cinababies", "Ah lians", "Lalas", "Ah bengs" share one common goal: to be Cute, Oriented, Captivated, Kawaii. (COCK). Recently, the emotional factor was sadly discovered. WIth these recent events, the Japan/HongKong entertainment industry are ought to undergo a massive boost. Many would show, objections, disinclinations, malevolence towards this misleading unjudgemental behaviour. However, hope is still alive, a hope that one day this term will once again show its unity,bond and diligence for everyone in Malaysia.
