Churaman Ahir

Churaman Ahir, also spelled Churman Ahir, was a commander of Gond garrison, who later became chief of an estate of 22 villages near Katangi (Kaimore) in Jabalpur district of modern Madhya Pradesh (India). This estate was granted to him by Raja Narin Sa (A.D. 1617-1727) of Garh Mandala.
Gond history
During the Gond rule of Narendra Shah (Narin Sa), Katangi was an army post, where Churaman Ahir was the Commander. Being pleased by the meritorious services of Churaman, he was granted 22 villages near Kamore in Jabalpur. Churaman established his son Hamir Deo here in 1722. Later, the areas up to Deori in Sagar came under the influence of Churaman, which he ruled till 1931. Naredra Shah took back Deori from Churaman in 1731.<ref name="Mishra"/>
