Christoph Schuck

Christoph Schuck (born 1976 in Giessen) is a German political scientist and professor at TU Dortmund University.
Life
From 1996 to 2001, Christoph Schuck studied social sciences (focus: developing countries) and geography at the University of Giessen (Germany) and the University of Tampere (Finland). In 2003, he completed his doctorate at the University of Giessen with a thesis on Indonesia’s democratic transition. In the following years Schuck became a DFG research fellow and directed several projects for Germany’s Federal Foreign Office. In 2008 he completed his habilitation thesis on Islamism. From 2008 to 2009, Schuck became an interim professor of International Relations at the University of Jena. Later on, in 2009, he was appointed as an associate professor and in 2013 as a full professor of Political Science at TU Dortmund University.
Schuck was a visiting researcher at, among others, Yale University (USA), Parahyangan University Bandung (Indonesia), the University of Malaya (Malaysia) and the University of Lucerne (Switzerland). From 2014 to 2016, he was Vice Dean for research and finance. Since 2016 he has been Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences and Theology at TU Dortmund University.
Christoph Schuck is married and lives in Dortmund together with his wife.
