Christoffel van Wijk called Rooi Stoffel was the brother of Hermanus van Wijk, the first Kaptein of the Rehoboth Basters. They served together on the Baster's first council in 1872. Rooi Stoffel's first wife was Anna Maria Brill who died in 1910. They had 10 children of which were 4 sons and 6 daughters. The sons names were Jan van Wyk, Christoffel van Wyk, Hermanus van Wyk and Adriaan Wilhelmina van Wyk. Rooi Stoffel and his wife owned the majority of the land in the town Keimoes as well as the following farms: Gous, Kousies, Achterkop, Zonderhuis, Bitterpan, etc. Today his decendants are scattered all over South Africa and Namibia.
