Christina Carrera

Christina Nicole Carrera, an American born actress and model was born in Silver Spring, Maryland on March 8, 2000 to Staci and Jose Antonio Carrera.
Carrera’s parents named her “Christina” because they believed that she would accomplish great things. She was nicknamed "Boosch," because she kept smiling as a baby and relatives commonly referred to her as “Boo.” She is of part Latin descent. Carrera attended Glen Haven Elementary School from 2005-2007 for kindergarten to second grade, where she was described as gifted and talented. She is currently home schooled by a private tutor while on the set of the Rogers and Hammerstein's 7 Time Tony Award Winning Broadway play South Pacific. While not on tour Carrera lives in the Bronx, a borough of New York City. She enjoys singing, cooking, bowling, dancing, traveling, playing fashion designer with her friends, creative writing, and loves puppies and other animals.
Career
Early work: 2002-2005
Carrera became interested in acting when she was only two years old when she became fascinated with Shirley Temple routines. She later took acting classes with Cheryl Felicia Rhoads and vocal instruction with Arnetia Walker both located in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Carrera’s early career was marked by print advertisements and television commercials. Her first television commercial was a Nickelodeon [http://en. .org/wiki/Nickelodeon_(TV_channel)] national promotion for “T.J. Beary Tales” where she played a princess.
June 2007 - September 2009
In 2007, Carrera rejoined Nickelodeon for another national promotion of the “Parents Connect” cooking segment on http://www.nickjr.com on the Nickelodeon television channel. She has been featured in print advertisements for Bon Ton and Hecht’s Department stores, now owned by Macy’s. In October 2005, Carrera was signed to the national talent roster of the Abrams Artists Agency. In early 2007, she was signed to the Los Angeles and New York divisions for television and film and is currently managed by Marnie Cooper. She is also represented by veteran Washington DC based publicist Ivy K Pendleton (http://www.thepublicists.com).
September 2009 to Present: Breakout Theatre and Career
Carrera made her theatrical debut in 2009. As one of 7 principle stars of Rogers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific , Carrera is becoming popular with theatre critics and children of all ages, leading to a successful career. She is performing at 21 dates of their 21-city tour, beginning on October 25, 2009 in San Francisco. South Pacific has earned seven Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Director, Best Scenic Design, Best Costumes, Best Lighting, Best Sound and Best Actor for its original star Paolo Szot. Carrera is performing as Ngana.
Entrepreneurship
In early 2010, Carrera will team up with The Couture Agency to create a line of junior and girls' tee shirts which will be available online. The line will grow to include: doll clothes, hair ties and tie-dye tank tops and dresses. Critics who have previewed the tees have predicted they would be high sellers.
