Christian y Cristal

Christian y Cristal (in English, Christian & Cristal) is a 2009 Puerto Rican film, written and directed by professor Víctor Aldarondo. It was filmed in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and it received a theatrical release in the theater Bellas Artes of Aguada, Puerto Rico in September 2009. It's the first movie filmed mainly by students from public schools in the country.
Title
The movie "Christian y Cristal" has its name in honor to the great romantic story "Romeo & Juliet".
This is the story of two teenagers with totally opposite lives... Christian lives with his mother, a cancer patient. She is the one who has helped him overcome the obstacles of life; she's part of his life. On the other hand, there's Cristal, who's got everything she could wish for, except her parents love. They both work and never spend time with her. And to calm her loneliness, she decides, by peer pressure, to join her school's drug dealers.
Plot
Christian y Cristal, performed by Kevin Hernández and Deyhaneira Nieves, is a romantic drama. In this story, contrary to the stereotype of a drug dealer, it is a teenage girl, Cristal, who does the illicit transactions on the school. When the school's "spot" gets "heated up", her boyfriend, Bernie (Ezequiel Rodríguez), orders her to find a replacement that nobody suspects from, to sell on the school. That's where Christian comes in, a young boy in the middle of an economic crisis, whose mother's sickness and his feelings towards Cristal have turned him into an easy prey for the offenders.
Throughout the story, Cristal's feelings change towards Christian, putting them both on the sight of a revengeful Bernie.
Setting
The film takes place in a school, Ester Feliciano Mendoza was used as the film location, in Puerto Rico. Time takes place in 2009. The whole film was recorded in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
