Chris Savarese

Chris Savarese (April 16, 1968 - present) is an American Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. Chris resides in Lynhurst, New Jersey and is a member of Royler Gracie USA/David Adiv Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Martial Arts Career
Chris began his martial arts career in 1997 where he met David Adiv, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. Chris began training BJJ under David and received his blue belt in 1999, and his purple belt in 2001. Chris then joined the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City and trained there until 2005 when he returned to David Adiv's school. Chris was promoted to Brown belt in 2005. On June 1, 2008, Chris received his black belt from Royler Gracie, becoming one of the few Americans to be promoted to black belt by a son of Helio Gracie .
Competitions
Chris has competed and won many times in various submission grappling events and tournaments, including Grappler's Quest (3X), NAGA (2X), New York City Grappling Challenge and USGA Tournament. Chris has been featured in videos and interviewed numerous times regarding competitions
Business career
Savarese is the former owner of Tribe Fightwear, a clothing company that made apparell and fight gear. Tribe sponsored professional fighters such as Dean Lister, Kurt Pelligrino, Brandon Vera, Jason "Mayhem" Miller, and Kurt Pelligrino. Chris is also the owner/instructor at Savarese Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Lynhurst, NJ.
