Life and career
Chris Rotolo grew up in Middletown, New Jersey and began his interest in writing and journalism in his youth. During his years at Middletown North HS, he was frequently involved in school-supported journalism and media events. After his graduation in 2007, he attended The College of New Jersey in Ewing, New Jersey where he further developed his studies in communications and media. He began the NJ local music blog "Speak Into My Good Eye" during his junior year in college. It began as a small music blog hosted on a Wordpress site. Infrequent updates about upcoming shows as well as local reviews were the initial bulk of the blog's content. Over the course of two years, it would grow to be one of the most important and trend-setting music blogs that the shore area has, with a focus heavily on new and upcoming New Jersey shore artists. It provides independent and exclusive content such as articles, interviews, live show reviews, and album reviews and has covered major music events such as Lollapalooza and The Bamboozle festivals. In 2011 it was nominated for an Asbury Music Award as one of the top websites/blogs for the support of music local to the Asbury Park, NJ area.
As Rotolo continued to develop as a writer and contributing voice to the Asbury Park media circle, he took a position as a writer in the Asbury Park Press' sports department in 2010. He also acted as a contributor to the paper's arts & entertainment section as well as other major scene media sources such as Metromix NJ and the Aquarian Weekly.
