Chris Chamberlin

Chris Chamberlin of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia is a an operatic baritone, and has worked with organisations such as Opera Queensland and Opera Australia, and is a current student of the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
Awards
In September 2006, Chamberlin won the Vice-President's Trophy Award as a member of the Queensland Youth Choir (QYC), performing his own arrangement of Funiculì, Funiculà. The following year, he was also awarded second-place in the choir's annual singing competition's "open solo" category.
Concert experience
As a soloist and a chorister, he regularly performs in a number of events and concert tours, most notably:
* Handel's Messiah with Opera Australia
* Andrea Bocelli's 2008 Australian Tour with Tina Arena, Paola Sanguinetti and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra
* Michael Crawford's 2006 Australian Tour with Dale Kristien.
* Performing Away in a Manger and Silent Night in twelve performances of the Golden Casket Lord Mayor's Christmas Carols (two of which were aired on Channel 9)
Opera
To ensure the future success of the genre, Opera Queensland and Backbone Youth Arts began a collaboration process in 2007 to create a new opera - one by young people, for young people. What started out as Beneath the Fire (a 30-minute opera in one act), has since been developed by Chamberlin and fellow Creating Opera! Artists into what is now known as Dirty Apple - part of Opera Queensland's 2009 Season.
In addition to his performances for Opera Australia, Chamberlin has also performed professionally with Opera Queensland. With this company, he performed the lead tenor role of "Ashleigh" in the company's new opera Beneath the Fire, performed at the company's Madama Butterfly production dinner in 2007, and at the company's Season 09 launch event in promotion of Dirty Apple. Additionally, he has appeared in Pagliacci, Don Pasquale, and ' for the Queensland Conservatorium, and will soon be appearing in a staged version of Handel's oratorio Saul for the same organisation.
Choral work
During his time with QYC, he was a member of their Vivace Voices, Vivace Barbershop Quartet, Vivace Male Ensemble, and VoiceWorks groups. He has also performed with many other choral groups, some of which include the Young Conservatorium Griffith University (YCGU) Chamber Choir and the YCGU Malcolm Williamson Vocal Ensemble (Queensland State Honours group), Canticum Chamber Choir, Brisbane Chorale, and the Queensland Conservatorium Chamber Choir.
Performances for charity
In 2006, Chamberlin was an official spokesperson for World Water Day, recording the day's theme song - Water For Life, in conjunction with QYC. Also, he performed the theme live with Greg Moore on World Water Day. Additionally, as a member of QYC, Chamberlin travelled to Charleville in the same year to perform for the Save the Bilby Fund's National Bilby Day, and also chorally recorded a CD single entitled The Bilbies' Lament for the Fund.
