Chima Matthew Amadi also known as Mazi Gburugburu is a Nigerian researcher, advocate for good governance, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is recognized for his contributions in the fields of political science, economics, and development studies. Amadi is currently the chairman of the board of trustees of the Centre for Transparency Advocacy and the chair of the Julian-Matt Group. He is also the founder of the Jude and Juliana Foundation. Early life and education Amadi was born in Kano State, Nigeria, to Jude and Juliana Amadi. He attended Dabo Primary School in Kano for his primary education and began his secondary education at Army Day Senior Secondary School, Bukavu Barracks, Kano. Following religious riots in Kano, his family relocated to South East Nigeria, where he completed his secondary education at Comprehensive Secondary School, Umuekwune, Imo State. Amadi pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Ibadan, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition. While at the University of Ibadan, he served as the secretary general of the students Union. Academic career Amadi has obtained multiple advanced degrees from various institutions. He earned a master's degree in Comparative Public Policy and Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science, a master's degree in Democracy and Comparative Politics from University College London, a master's degree in political science from the University of Ibadan, and a master's degree in Economics and Development Studies from Lead City University. Career Amadi founded the Centre for Transparency Advocacy and served as its executive director until October 2020. He is presently the chairman of the board of trustees Between June 2010 and October 2014, Amadi worked as the senior programme manager at Partners for Electoral Reform an organization promoting free and fair elections in Nigeria. Research and advocacy Amadi has published extensively on topics including elections in Nigeria, patronage and agency budget in presidential appointments, public institutions' accountability, and Nigeria's role in international economic relations. His notable publications include 2019 Elections in Nigeria: The Clear and Present Dangers and Engaging With Public Institutions on Accountability Issues. Philanthropy Through the Jude and Juliana Foundation, Amadi supports community development initiatives in the Ngor Okpala community and surrounding villages in Imo State, Nigeria. The foundation provides scholarships and business capital to Nigerian youth. He is also known to give money to strangers on social media.
