Hugh A. Sinclair (also known as Chef Irie) (b. 1970) is a professional chef who was born in 1970 on the Caymanas Estates in Kingston, Jamaica. As a teenager he emigrated with his family to New York before settling in Florida. He has traveled throughout the world especially in Europe and the Far East which has influenced his cooking styles and techniques. He currently lives in south Florida. Career He currently has a hit television show called Chef Irie which is aired on the Public Broadcast Service (PBS) station Create TV. The show's co-host is Nicole Hylton, who was also born in Jamaica. Chef Irie and Nicole challenge one another to incorporate island flavors with Carribbean-style cuisine. The show was conceived by media producer Calibe Thompson. Chef Irie gained professional experience working in different capacities at the Turnberry Isle Resort, Charlie’s Crab, Cascades and Bimini Boatyard. Hugh was also a chef for Lamar Odom, formerly of The Miami Heat and has also worked for Queen Latifah and Mario Winans. Education Sinclair earned a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville in Architecture before and an associate degree in the culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University in North Miami. Professional Organizations Chef Hugh Is a member of the APCA - American Personal Chef Association and The Kiwanis Organization - The Lauderdale Lakes & West Sunrise Club. Awards & Achievements Chef Irie was a finalist in the Alize Mentorship Recipe Contest and a finalist in the American Egg Board’s 2004 Global Flavors Recipe Contest.
