Charles H. Lyons

Elected to office in 1972, Charles "Charlie" H. Lyons was the first 18-year-old in the United States elected to a town or city position.
Lyons served the citizens of Arlington, Massachusetts as well as the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1972 to 2005. During his tenure in political office, Lyons took on many different roles in state and national organizations, including: President of the Massachusetts Selectmen's Association, the Massachusetts Municipal Association Board of Directors, and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority Board of Directors. In 2004, he was elected President of the National League of Cities, the only sitting selectman so honored in the organization's 80-year history.
Professionally, Lyons has been the Superintendent/Director of the Shawsheen Valley Technical School District located in Billerica, Massachusetts since 1987.
