Chad Epperson

Chad Aaron Epperson (born March 26, 1972 at Elizabethtown, Kentucky) is an American professional baseball coach. In , he will serve his second consecutive season as the roving minor league catching coordinator for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball. A former catcher during his active career, he was a switch hitter who threw right-handed, stood tall and weighed .
Epperson graduated from Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers, Florida, in 1990, attended Seminole Community College, and was selected by the New York Mets in the 40th round of the 1992 June draft. His professional playing career extended through 2000, and included stints in the Mets (1992-95), Boston Red Sox (1997-99) and Baltimore Orioles (2000) farm systems, as well as service in independent league baseball. He reached the Double-A level for three Eastern League teams, the Binghamton Mets, Trenton Thunder and Bowie Baysox.
In , after a year as a manager in the independent Frontier League, Epperson rejoined the Red Sox organization as batting coach of the Sarasota Red Sox of the Class A Florida State League. After two years in that role, he became a manager at the Class A level for Boston farm teams, including the Augusta GreenJackets (2004), Greenville Bombers (2005), Wilmington Blue Rocks (2006), Lancaster JetHawks (2007-08), and Salem Red Sox (2009).
Through six seasons (2004-09) as a minor league skipper, Epperson's record was 431 wins, 403 losses (.517). He was the California League Manager of the Year in 2007-08.
He resides in Cape Coral, Florida.
