Carol Newinn

Carol Newinn (Vietnamese: Nguyen) is the first Vietnamese-American cheerleader for the Houston Texans.
She is a graduate of the McCombs School of Business with honors at the University of Texas and a noted alumna of the Alpha Sigma Rho sorority. She is also the first spokesmodel for Envy Magazine, a Houston & Dallas publication. During her freshman year of college, Newinn had an encounter with CAPP Records and was faced with the decision of pursuing a career as a pop/trance singer or finishing her degree.
Her family left Saigon, South Vietnam, on April 30, 1975, in the fall of Saigon. Her father, Henry Newinn, was an office manager for the U.S. State Department, and his family were allowed to immigrate to the United States. Newinn's mother is half Chinese and half Vietnamese, while her father is full Vietnamese. She has one older brother, Johnny, known for his talent as an internationally recognized Elvis tribute artist.<ref name=autogenerated1 />
