Carmelo Rafala

Carmelo Rafala, (born April 4, 1970) is an American-born writer resident in Great Britain. He was a finalist for the Anubis Award for horror in 2004 and, in 2007, garnered over 1800 downloads in a matter of hours from the website of the Parsec Award-winning audio-fiction company, Variant Frequencies, making him the fourth most popular fiction download. His work has gained notable reviews, notably in SF Site, and SFRevue calling his work "dark" , "serious" and "touching" . Critic and reviewer Peter Tennant, a regular critical contributor to TTA Press publications such as Interzone and Black Static, noted his work as addressing "serious themes" which make "a virtue out of what is not being said" in Future Fire. Along with Harry Harrison, Liz Williams, Geoff Ryman, Jeff Spock and Lavie Tidhar, he contributed to the non-themed section of the Quercus anthology, The West Pier Gazette and Other Stories, from Three Legged Fox Books, edited by Paul Brazier, formerly of Interzone under David Pringle (Click through visitors and Come on in and take a look buttons on Quercus SF page for partial author line-up.) He is a member of the British Fantasy Society.
