Carly Henderson

Carly Henderson is an American Emmy Award-nominated TV host, correspondent and journalist. She currently works as a VJ for mtvU and is most notable for hosting MTV Spring Break.
Early life
Carly grew up in a small town in Colorado, then headed to the University of Missouri School of Journalism. While in school, she worked as a reporter for NBC affiliate KOMU-TV. There, she also shot and edited video, produced webcasts, and anchored.
In college, she was also a writer for VH1 Classic's rock history series On This Day in Music.
Carly became the face of mtvU after getting discovered from an audition video she made while teaching English in Seoul, South Korea.
Television career
As mtvU's on-air personality, Carly hosts film premieres and video hours, promotes upcoming movie releases and shows, interviews artists and students, and reports from events like Bonnaroo Music Festival and South by Southwest. In addition to the nearly 9 million U.S. college students mtvU reaches, Carly also often appears on MTV segments.
She is most notable for her interview with Vice President Joe Biden where she spoke with him at his home and discussed preventing violence against women.
Carly hosted MTV Spring Break 2012 in Las Vegas where she interviewed artists onstage in front of 3,000 college students.
Carly has contributed as a New York entertainment correspondent for AXSLive, where she interviewed celebrities like Robin Williams, Roger Waters, Allison Williams, DJ Dirty South, Kimbra and Ricky Gervais. She also serves as a correspondent for Young Hollywood where she has interviewed Kerry Washington, Heidi Klum, fashion designer Zac Posen, Nina Garcia, and Olympic figure skater Sasha Cohen.
Carly is also a music journalist for MTV's global music brand MTV Iggy, where she interviewed international artists Selah Sue, D Pryde and African rebels Tinariwen via translator.
In 2013, MTV sent Carly to Nashville, Tennessee to surprise college music artists with news that they'd perform at the mtvU Woodie Awards. She presented awards at the 2011, 2012 and 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas during South by Southwest.
She hosted mtvU's fitness competition series Student Bodies and The Opening, which profiles young college grads and their unique jobs.
Politico featured Carly's story on presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Leading up to the 2012 presidential race, she took their hypothetical college resumes to career centers around New York City and asked counselors to evaluate their career prospects as if they were students today. Her work has also been featured on Entertainment Tonight, ABC News and Good Day Austin.
In March 2014, Carly started her film career by starring in Veggietales's newest video: Veggies In Space: The Fennel Frontier: A Lesson in The Power of Sharing, A pun of Star Trek: The Final Frontier voicing T-Bot
Activism
Carly is a spokesperson for the Half of Us Campaign, which was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. Half of Us was created by mtvU and the The Jed Foundation to help students struggling with mental health issues on campus.
She has also been involved in efforts to raise money after the earthquake in Haiti, tsunami in Japan, and flooding in Pakistan.
Carly reported on reducing plastic bottle water waste during concerts on college campuses and raised awareness through Spirit Day to prevent LGBT bullying.
Instead of MTV's traditional Spring Break, in 2013 MTV held Spring Fix, where Carly reported from the scene of Hurricane Sandy cleanup efforts.
Live Events
Carly hosted MTV's first-ever Artist to Watch showcase at New York City's Highline Ballroom, where she introduced upcoming artists Jessie Ware, Alt-J, Robert DeLong and Zedd to 700 music fans.
On January 30, 2013, Carly hosted the BlackBerry 10 Fan Experience in Toronto.
On May 23, 2013, thousands gathered in Times Square as Carly unveiled the largest LEGO model ever built - a replica of the Star Wars X-Wing composed of more than 5 million LEGO bricks.
