Canadian Gun Nutz

Canadian Gun Nutz (CGN) (CanadianGunNutz.com) is a large and well-known Canadian Internet forum dedicated to discussing firearms. CGN is an active forum with over 360,000 threads, 5,000,000 posts and nearly 90,000 members, as of January 2012.
History
CGN was started in 2002. There was a major server crash in 2004, resulting in the deletion of every user account on the site. Since then it has grown to be the largest firearms discussion forum in Canada.
Over the course of its history, CGN has evolved from a small group of, sometimes, likeminded individuals getting together to discuss ideas, to a formidable force on the Canadian political landscape. Posts from the site have been quoted by members of the Canadian Parliament and election candidates. It has been mentioned by Government of CanadaParliamentary Committees, specifically the committees regarding Bill C-19, as a powerful lobby group and it has been compared to and accused of being funded by the National Rifle Association in the United States.. This, however, is an erroneous claim as NRA's constitution does not allow it to fund or interfere in any organization outside of United States.

One member, Cst. Randy Kuntz of the Edmonton Police Service, utilized the Canadian Gunnutz forum to update members and fellow law enforcement officers on the progress of his nation wide survey of law enforcement officers pertaining to their support, or lack thereof, of the long gun registry. Information posted on CGN in reference to the survey was directly testified to by Cst. Randy Kuntz at the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on November 17, 2011.
