History

The Council of American Muslim Professionals (CAMP), is a not-for-profit organisation founded in Chicago in 1993. It has made considerable strides in growth in North America. Founded originally to cater to the needs of Muslim professionals to network and build community ties, CAMP continues to add member cities in major metropolitan areas, with a combined membership in the tens of thousands. In 2005, CAMP revised its mission, vision and goals to accommodate Muslim professionals looking to network from other parts of the world. In an effort to become an international organization, CAMP renamed itself to the “Council for the Advancement of Muslim Professionals”.

Mission

The Council for the Advancement of Muslim Professionals is a professional networking organization dedicated to serving the needs of the Muslim community. CAMP strives to provide professional networking events, community outreach efforts and exciting interactive educational opportunities to foster the personal and professional growth of its members through an atmosphere of professionalism and mutual respect. With activities such as community service and Islamic education, we hope to improve the strength and cohesiveness of our Muslim community.

Vision

The main objective of CAMP is to promote unity for the global Muslim community by encouraging professional networking development through educational, social and intellectual activities within an Islamic framework. This includes, among other things, working to build understanding and cooperation between the different faiths and cultures of the world.

Goal

The goal of this group is to be strong and collectively successful as Muslims and leaders of tomorrow. Together, we hope to enrich the lives of Muslims and those of all others we encounter.

Structure
CAMP is a unique not-for-profit organization for Muslim professionals, based in North America. CAMP is not an exclusive organization and welcomes members of all faiths, cultures and sects who are professionals in their communities. There is a great need for an Islamic association such as this, which strives to promote the collective professional growth of its members.

CAMP will serve as a forum for facilitating support and networking to collect and disseminate ideas and resources from Muslims. By encouraging and facilitating group activities and projects, we hope to strengthen ties among professional Muslims, to learn from other Muslims and to promote the professional successes of other Muslims.
