Cambridge Friends School is a private, coeducational preK-8 located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The school was founded in 1961 and is one of five Quaker schools in New England. The current enrollment is 183 students and 64 faculty and staff are employed at the school. Cambridge Friends School is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools of New England.They are also a member of the Friends Council on Education, National Association of Independent Schools and National Coalition of Small Schools. Cambridge Friends School is also the only Quaker school in Massachusetts. Academics Cambridge Friends School's classes run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Each year, approximately 30-40 students are admitted. Although Cambridge Friends School is a Quaker school, students do not have to be a Quaker to attend. Cambridge Friends School is split into the lower School (Grades pre-K-5) and the middle School (Grades 6-8). The lower school's curriculum includes visual arts, music, library, physical education, Spanish and drama. The middle school's curriculum includes English, mathematics, science, history, Spanish, visual art, drama and physical education. In addition to academics, Cambridge Friends School also offers instrumental music and dance, as well as an athletics program. Student Body There are approximately 183 students that attend Cambridge Friends School. Of that number, over 45% receive tuition assistance. Students at Cambridge Friends School are heavily involved in community service. While at school, students will have the change to be involved in buddy groups, community assemblies and numerous volunteer work opportunities.
