Camarillo UFO

The Camarillo UFO refers to an unexplained aerial phenomena which has occurred relatively annually over and around the city of Camarillo, in Ventura County, California. The first recorded sighting of the object occurred on Thanksgiving evening of 1996, however similar sightings were reported as early as 1992 in Santa Barbara. The Thanksgiving 1996 sighting was the beginning of a five day string of sightings, one of which was recorded on video by the Ventura/Santa Barbara chapter of MUFON.

The object typically appears in the early evening. According to most reports, the object first appears as a star like light high in the sky with a North West orientation, relative to the city of Camarillo. The object is often said to emmit rings of smoke and smaller lights.

Sometimes these smaller lights are observed to move erradically, in formation, disperse randomly, return to the object, or a combination of all of the above.

The object(s) have often been observed to travel in a south east direction, however a north west direction of travel has also been observed. The smaller objects may return to the original object before the whole thing leaves. The smaller objects and original objects have also been observed to merge into two bright white lights and leave as a flashing unit "much resembling a small aircraft."

All sighting have lasted between 7-15 minutes.
