Call of Duty: Iron Wolf is likely to be the ninth game in the Call of Duty franchise, or a code name thereof. The game will be published by Activision, developed by Treyarch and, most likely, released in 2012 following the Call of Duty franchise's annual release schedule maintained by its the previous five installments since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Details of the game first emerged when the Xbox Live status of a Treyarch developer listed him as playing Iron Wolf: Team Deathmatch, a well-known staple of the Call of Duty franchise. Further speculation to the validity of this claim were created when screen shots of the developer's profile were removed from the hosting site by Activision. Iron Wolf is a reference to Lithuanian military terminology.
