Calgary Canoe Club

The Calgary Canoe Club (CCC) is located on the Glenmore Reservoir in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The club offers a wide range of water-related activities for residents in Calgary and the surrounding area including recreational kayaking, outrigger canoeing, voyageur, flat-water sprint canoe and kayak and recreational paddling.  The club is a member of CanoeKayak Canada and is nationally ranked in the flat-water sprint canoe/kayak disciplines.  The Calgary Canoe Club Sprint program works with the guidance of the ASRCA (Alberta Sprint Canoe Racing Association).  The Calgary Canoe Club also shares the reservoir with the Calgary Rowing Club and the Glenmore Sailing Club, located on the opposite side of the reservoir.

Membership
To use the facilities and the fleet of recreational canoes and recreation kayaks, users must pay a membership for that season. Memberships range from Junior to Family prices.  For one-time rentals, users may opt for the day rental where the use of recreational canoes is only permitted. Membership in any racing programs allows members access the fleet of racing boats at the discretion of the Head coach.
Programs
Outrigger Canoe
In 2012, the Calgary Canoe Club hosted the World Outrigger Sprint Championships.  Athletes from around the World including Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Europe, Hawaii and mainland USA, Rapa Nui, Brazil, Argentina participated in this event, including members of the CCC as part of Team Canada.
The Outrigger program is run by knowledgeable coaching staff that have numerous years of experience in the sport.
Sprint Canoe & Kayak
The Calgary Canoe Club is home to a team of flat-water sprint canoe and kayak paddlers and provides training and competitive opportunities for all age groups throughout North America.  The club has developed numerous national-level athletes, including Olympian Kamini Jain.  The club has also turned out a number of junior-national level athletes including Brady Garcia and Gavin Freeborn, members of Team Canada for the 2015 Junior World Championships.
CCC's Trinity Tratch was named to Team Canada's ParaCanoe program in 2016.
The team is fully supported by a qualified, knowledgeable coaching staff.
Recreational Canoe
Since its establishment, the CCC has run programs for persons of all ages through day-camp programs, courses and rental opportunities via membership to the club.  The club's boathouse is equipped with a fleet of numerous types of boat-craft and equipment.
Adult Courses
Programs for adults in outrigger paddling and sprint kayak/canoe are available. See website for updated information.
in 2015 the CCC started a ParaCanoe program for athletes in both outrigger canoe and sprint kayak.
Youth Courses
The CCC offers various youth courses over the year. For youth interested in the sport of flat-water sprint canoe and kayak, there is the Spring and Fall Learn-To-Paddle, (run based on attendance numbers) & Summer Learn-To-Paddle Day Camps. Participants from these programs often progress to the full-time paddle program where they become full-time/part-time sprint athletes.
The CCC focuses on competitive based programs on the reservoir. We no longer run introduction to whitewater kayaking courses.

Staff
All full-time staff of the CCC are NCCP certified along with First-Aid and CPR certification.

In the summer months, the club hires additional certified day-program instructors to run recreational canoe/kayak programs and certified sprint canoe/kayak coaches to run youth sprint programs.  All staff have years of experience in their discipline and receive up-to-date coach/instructor training.
