Cafe Cameroon

Cafe Cameroon is a social entrepreneurship project started by 13 Quinnipiac University students, all of whom are members of SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise). Since January 2008, they have partnered with the Bawa Health Initiative to fund a health clinic in the village of Bawa, Cameroon with the proceeds from their coffee sales. Since April 2008 they have been selling the coffee throughout Connecticut and intend on expanding their reach to nearby states. They are also in the process of becoming Fair Trade certified. Founding Members Richard Hirsch, Antoinette Mal jevic, Kevan Higgins, Michael Boscarino, Jamie Greenberg, Brittany Fouskas, Michael Yatsko, Ross Shuket, Chris Machado, Natalie Melillo, Caiti Kaminski, Julianne Aerts, Pamela Noujaim, Jason Jacobs Background The Bawa Health Initiative is a project started by Bawa native, Dr. Blaise Dondji from Yale University as well as Quinnipiac University professor Dr. Dennis Richardson. As of now, the nearest health center is 6 miles away, and is a near impossible journey for patients who needed emergency medical assistance. Funding of the health clinic within Bawa will save the lives of countless villagers in need of emergency medical attention by elimination of the long, difficult journey.
