C. Olivia Frost, professor emerita as of 2009, has been a member of the University of Michigan faculty since 1977. She was a Professor in the School of Information, and later in her career, Dean of the school. Frost has an extensive academic background. She received her B.A. in German Literature from Howard University, a Master’s degree in German Language and Literature from the University of Chicago, a Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Oregon, a Ph.d in Library Science from the University of Chicago, and studied as a Fulbright Scholar for a year at the Freie Universitaet in Berlin. Frost spent around 4 years teaching German language classes to Freshman at the University of Illinois, which nearly steered her away from teaching altogether. Frost has published several scholarly articles on the use of citations, Bodleian catalogs, and cataloging. An accomplishment of special interest was her formation of the CHICO project (Cultural Heritage for Community Outreach) with the help of students and the support of the Kellogg Foundation. The project was intended to link museums, archives, libraries and primary schools for collaborative learning in regards to cultural heritage through a digital library. Unfortunately, as of April 6, 2010, the website appears to be defunct. While the project was in force, it was a popular source for teaching about cultural heritage. *http://www.iota.org/Fall99/chico.html * http://www.archimuse.com/mw99/bios/au_5597.html *http://blog.si.umich.edu/2009/09/01/for-c-olivia-frost-its-now-professor-emerita/ *Frost, C.O.
