Burt Sigurdson

Burt Sigurdson (May 16,1899 - February 6, 1978) is a fictional character on Fox's That '70s Show. He is the father of Kitty Forman and the husband of Bea Sigurdson. He is portrayed by Tom Poston.
Burt is a friendly old man and an alcoholic. He only appeared in three episodes in season five. Most of the time he is tying to avoid his wife because all she does is nag at him. He bought an ostrich farm in one episode but did not know it was next to a coyote farm and therefore lost the farm and had to sell the house. They came and stayed with the Formans for a while. In the episode "Your Time Is Gonna Come", he collapses in the driveway and is rushed to the hospital where he dies.
Trivia
The name implies Icelandic ancestry, although in Iceland people generally do not have family names, but patronymics, so Kitty probably had an ancestor named Sigurður whose son moved to the New World, and dropped in the process one s from his fathername Sigurðsson and lost the letter ð so it became a d; However, it is more likely that it is Swedish, as in one episode Kitty mentions that her grandmother's heavy Swedish accent embarrassed her.
