Bruno Cianci

Bruno Cianci OSI (born 20 December 1970) is an Italian chartered journalist, author of several historical and maritime books, copywriter, photographer, museum advisor and sailor based in Istanbul, Turkey.
Life

Education
After studying accountancy in Bergamo and Interior Design at the Accademia delle Arti Applicate in Milan, thus becoming an interior designer. In 1993-94 he performed his military service. In 2000 he completed his university studies, obtaining a Laurea Magister (Master's Degree) in Political and Social Sciences at Università degli Studi di Milano.
Work
In September 2005, after passing the state exam in Rome, he became a professional journalist and a member of the Ordine dei Giornalisti. Since 1999 Cianci has contributed to 140 media outlets on five continents. His articles have been published in twelve languages: Italian, English, French, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, Cantonese, Russian, Albanian, Hungarian and Turkish. Between 2002 and 2006 he was a full time editor of "Arte Navale", "BBC History", "HUB", "Focus", "Wave", "Barche", "The Good Life", "Classic Boat", "Boating New Zealand", "Goose", "Boat International", "Wooden Boat", "RID-Rivista Italiana Difesa", "MergerMarket" (Financial Times Group), and "Playboy" among others. He currently works as International Press Advisor for the Rahmi M. Koç Museum, a private museum founded in 1994 in Istanbul by Turkish industrialist Rahmi M. Koç, the honorary chairman of Koç Holding.

Cianci has interviewed several celebrities, including - to name a few - the sailors Sir Ben Ainslie, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Sir Russell Coutts, Dame Ellen MacArthur, Paul Cayard, the adventurers Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Giacomo De Stefano, the starchitects Philippe Starck and Sir David Chipperfield, the movie director Ferzan Özpetek and naval architect Ron Holland.

Cianci has reported on numerous mainstream sport events, including football games of the UEFA Champions League, the Athens Olympic Games 2004, the London Olympic Games 2012, the America's Cup 2007 and 2010, and dozens of other sailing events. Cianci is a keen photographer. His pictures have been featured in over one hundred media outlets and on the front cover of several magazines in Italy, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Accolades
On 18 October 2021 Bruno Cianci received a knighthood for services to Italian-Turkish bilateral relations. He was thus awarded the insignia and the title of Knight of the 'Order of the Star of Italy' (OSI) at Palazzo di Venezia, the Istanbul residence of the Italian ambassador to Turkey. For his articles and books, Cianci has also won several prizes, including awards in four different editions of the "Premio Carlo Marincovich", an annual contest held in Rome under the patronage of the Italian Navy.
